IBAC Applauds Bombardier for First-Ever Environmental Product Declaration for Global 7500
02 July 2020
MONTREAL – 1 July 2020 – The International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) commends Bombardier for the outstanding achievement of receiving the first-ever Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for a business aircraft, the Global 7500, under the auspices of the International EPD® System.
Kurt Edwards, IBAC Director General, said, “This is an unprecedented accomplishment by Bombardier and demonstrates their exceptional commitment to sustainability. As an IBAC Industry Partner, Bombardier is a global industry leader on environmental matters and has always been a key supporter of IBAC’s environmental efforts, including the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Coalition. Bombardier has joined us in leading initiatives over the last few years to inform business aircraft operators of the availability of SAF and its importance to meeting the industry’s long-term goal to reduce its carbon emissions. This declaration providing environmental transparency on the Global 7500 is a bold achievement, and we congratulate them.”
The Global 7500 aircraft EPD is a third-party, verified document that discloses fully transparent environmental information about the product’s life cycle, such as CO2 emissions, noise, water consumption and other key environmental impact indicators. The EPD concept and process have developed over the last 15 years, managed by EPD International AB in Sweden.
Bruce Parry, IBAC Environment Director, said, “The Bombardier sustainability program has been unwavering over the last ten years and has now set the bar even higher with the publication of the first business aircraft Environmental Product Declaration for the Global 7500. The whole team at Bombardier should be congratulated on this monumental effort and their dedication towards environmental responsibility that directly contributes to the goals of the Business Aviation Commitment on Climate Change.”
